Starting off the New Year with a new perspective, directed motivation, and actionable results could mean the difference between growth and just getting by.

“Save the New Year’s resolutions for the gym or the dinner table. Employee engagement problems cannot be solved with quick-fix activities or programs,” says Custominsight CEO and Founder Dave Gutzman.
Gutzman heads Custominsight, a human resources consultation firm. He notes that one of the key factors to low productivity in a company is the end-of-the-year blues. Keeping employees motivated after the holidays and into the New Year is a challenge all companies face. Every January brings similar company resolutions that, without the right structure and approach, tend to fizzle. “There’s no grapefruit diet plan for companies. Increasing employee engagement requires a substantive change in how employees are treated. These are things that can't be faked, but just like that flabby tummy, there are ways to get fit as an organization.”
It takes commitment and work to restructure and resolve company-wide as well as local engagement issues. No company can accurately assess the level of engagement or job satisfaction of its employees without knowing exactly what matters most to its employees.
After creating Focal EE, a broad-based employee engagement survey, Custominsight wanted to create a tool to help businesses grow and succeed in the New Year and beyond. It developed the Employee Engagement Dashboard. Gutzman talks about the scalpel versus sledgehammer method for fixing problems in a company. He says, “The employee engagement dashboard will enable a company to instantly identify problem areas within its organization so it can take action more quickly and with greater precision.”
Employees appreciate a company’s resolve to work with them and their engagement issues. Too often employee satisfaction and engagement falls low on a list of a company’s priorities. Engagement, however, directly effects productivity. Starting off the New Year with a new perspective, directed motivation, and actionable results could mean the difference between growth and just getting by.
2013 can be better. Every company has room to improve. So, too, did Custominsight and in doing so created the Employee Engagement Dashboard. Gutzman says, “We like the idea of providing tools that have a positive impact on people.”
