After communicating with agents in the U.S. looking to set up a referral base in Canada, Listingism.com opened its doors to real estate agents and brokers to the north, allowing full Canadian membership to its advertising and referral system.
"Although many agents try to set-up their own referral list," states Kent Wolfe, Realtor and manager of Listingism.com, "by using excel or other means of making a directory of names, their systems often lack ease of functionality and they must manually update it. Most agents' loose interest and their lists end up lost, outdated and forgotten."
Listingism.com added all Canadian Provinces; agents and brokers can now enter their information and be added to the Find an Agent section and also advertise their properties. It expects most referrals will come from Canada to the southern U.S. States as residents look for winter homes, but also wanted to offer Canadian agents free property advertising as well.
Recent studies have shown Canadian homebuyers' purchased about 8 percent of homes sold in Florida, totaling billions of dollars in sales. Similar results can be found in other states such as Arizona, Texas and California, with Arizona and Florida leading the way. Although many foreign buyers are flocking to Florida and Arizona to take advantage of their low prices and warm winters, Canadians make up the majority of them.
“There’s a strong referral market for Canadian agents to the southern U.S. States but finding agents easily can sometimes be troublesome, or costly,” adds Kent. “Listingism.com is designed to connect agents to each other and also to buyers and sellers without charging any fees. Everyone can contact each other directly; it’s not a piece-of-the-pie design.”
Asked if there were any plans to expand to other foreign markets, Kent explains, “Although there are many foreign buyers looking for homes in the U.S., there aren't any plans to expand, after all, any agent or buyer from any country can contact agents without the need to register. Agents and brokers in the U.S. and Canada are the people who really need to make their presence known by registering.”
