In 2013, Tharpe and Howell, LLP is celebrating thirty six years of providing legal services. The firm was started by Todd Howell and Alan Tharpe, with a mission for providing high quality legal services to clients at affordable costs. The vision quickly caught on and has allowed the firm to grow to almost sixty attorneys, and continues to be the foundation for the firm’s success.

The firm’s philosophy was quickly embraced by insurance companies who, along with the government, are the largest users of legal services. The firm initially focused on litigating injury and property loss matters for major insurance companies, however the nature of the work quickly expanded to include a wide variety of complex commercial litigation. Today, the firm has developed a nationwide reputation and is Martindale Hubbell Peer Review rated. The firm has over sixty talented lawyers with diverse backgrounds and diverse practice areas, and provides managed legal services to insurance companies, individuals, and businesses ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.

The bright-line distinction between business and law is disappearing. The business world is fast-paced and volatile, and the success of a business can be affected by the flash of a news headline on a mobile phone. It is no longer sufficient for lawyers to be knowledgeable about their client’s business, but they must be fully engaged, 24/7, in their client’s affairs. This includes knowing and understanding all of the dynamics that go into the client’s business.
