First of twelve “on the go tools for your smartphone” in January edition of Diabetes Forecast.

Diabetes Pal™, the smartphone diabetes management app distributed by Telcare, Inc., has been featured in the January 2013 edition of “Diabetes Forecast®: the healthy living magazine”, published by the American Diabetes Association. In her roundup of “12 on-the-go health tools for your smartphone,” reviewer Tracey Nethercutt noted the product’s ability to log blood glucose readings, medications, exercise, and to display those data in various graphical formats.

Diabetes Pal was developed by Telcare as a companion to Telcare’s BGM®, the first FDA-cleared wireless (cellular) blood glucose meter that automatically transmits each blood glucose reading to Telcare’s secure clinical server, while returning immediate guidance and clinical coaching back to the patient. Glucose readings may be automatically transmitted – with patient permission -- to physicians, family members, and other caregivers of people with diabetes. Users who don’t purchase the Telcare BGM® are welcome to use the app, which is offered at no charge on both the iTunes and Google app stores, by entering readings manually. Diabetes Pal is valuable not only to people with Diabetes, but to their loved-ones as well, since it may be used by parents of children with diabetes and other family members to follow daily progress. As the most recent reviewer on the iTunes app store said, “Best glucose app I ever used…”

Telcare’s blood glucose monitoring system will be featured this week at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, where it is one of the top 2 contenders for the “Last Gadget Standing” competition. The product will be featured by partners Verizon, Optum Health (a subsidiary of United Health Care), and Qualcomm as part of their CES presentations.
