New tools guide patient selection when multiple genetic or genomic tests are being considered

Hayes, Inc., a research and consulting firm dedicated to improving the quality and value of healthcare through the use of evidence, is pleased to announce the release of the latest enhancement to its Genetic Test Evaluation (GTE) program. Beginning in January 2013, subscribers to the Hayes GTE program gain immediate access to web-based algorithms that provide guidance with regard to the proper application of genetic, genomic, and proteomic tests.

“With the explosion of genetic testing in the United States, our payer clients need an objective tool they can use to determine when and if a certain genetic or genomic test is necessary and medically appropriate,” says Dr. Diane Allingham-Hawkins, Director, Hayes GTE Program. “In patient populations for which multiple genetic or genomic tests might be considered, our interactive decision trees enable payers to answer the question, “At what point in the continuum of care is it appropriate to use this particular genetic test for this particular patient?”

Dr. Allingham-Hawkins will be demonstrating how to use the algorithms in 30-minute sessions. Contact accountservices(at)hayesinc(dot)com to register for one of these complimentary demonstrations:

  •     Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm ET
  •     Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 10:30 am – 11:00 am ET

  •     Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm ET

Hayes GTE Program also offers coverage policy support, as well as health technology assessments and evidence reviews for a wide variety of genetic diseases and tests, including those associated with all of the >200 new molecular CPT codes implemented by the AMA.
