From north to south, Ashtead Technology pulls together on multiple fronts to assist victims in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.:(

We would all like to thank the Ashtead Technology team for the hard work and dedication that they had brought forth in reaching out to us after the storm.

Northeast Regional Account Manager, Kim Vorreuter didn’t just sit around and wait to be asked for help after Hurricane Sandy devastated the region, he actively reached out to anyone, personally or professionally, in need of assistance by sending an email out to all Ashtead customers in the area offering to deliver equipment and supplies himself to those in need. As stated in Mr. Vorreuter’s email: “As a business that focuses on providing instrumentation and support services to protect people, infrastructure and the environment, we will be mobilizing our resources so that they can be available to support the much needed recovery efforts of inspection, remediation and repair activities.” Shortly afterwards his call was answered by Jessica Mathew, Environmental Engineer in Training (EIT Certification) with the ARCADIS office located in New Hyde Park, New York, and Art Zahradnik with the Environment Division of that same office. Aware of the extensive damage since co-workers had suffered personal losses from the storm, Ms. Mathew was wishing to set up a disaster relief effort in some capacity. When the email arrived from Ashtead the collaboration efforts began.

Since the Northeast isn’t an area prone to natural disasters of this magnitude the relief effort project required expertise with the logistics that would be required to mobilize any donations. Who more familiar with hurricanes than someone from the Gulf Coast? Kim immediately contacted Monique Hibbs, a fellow Regional Account Manager based out of Ashtead’s Baton Rouge office. “Mo” is the Founder and CEO of a charity/non-profit organization called Angels Touching Lives which performs community outreach in different areas including planning and coordinating benefits and fundraisers to help families in need whether due to illness or result of natural disasters such as hurricanes. The organization has access to 2 donated storage units in Walker and Mandeville, LA which are used to warehouse all of the donated items and hurricane supplies in preparation for deployment. In addition to spearheading the procurement leg of the project, Mo personally contributed $250 worth of the supplies heading to New York.

Phase 1 (water, food/MREs, bleach, cleaning supplies) and Phase 2 (personal hygiene products, clean up clothes) provisions for multiple people amounts to quite a lot of supplies, a pallet’s worth to be exact. Not something you just put a stamp on and drop in the mail. Thanks to Ashtead’s Rochester office that sponsored the shipment from Louisiana, the items arrived safely to the relief site in New York to not only benefit the ARCADIS employees, but any Long Beach resident affected by the storm.

States Ms. Mathew, “We would all like to thank the Ashtead Technology team for the hard work and dedication that they had brought forth in reaching out to us after the storm. Their generosity and support helped lessen the impact on various Long Beach, NY residents as they begin to recover from the devastation.”

Ashtead Technology as a whole has committed itself to aiding Hurricane Sandy victims as well. Ashtead will donate $10 to the American Red Cross from every equipment rental a customer registers on the company’s Hurricane Sandy Relief web page. This is at no cost to the customer except for a few minutes of their time to enter their invoice number and supply some basic information.
