Seattle, WA (PRWEB) January 08, 2013
The team at Seattle-based Internet marketing company Portent will be among the 40 local organizations building snow forts and participating in a world-record snowball fight during the annual citywide Snow Day festival on Saturday, Jan. 12.
As a $5,000 sponsor of the event that benefits Boys and Girls Clubs of King County, Portent will receive 20 cubic yards of snow to construct a castle at the Seattle Center, 305 Harrison St. More than 162,000 pounds of snow – enough to fill 34 dump trucks – will be trucked down from the mountain passes for the three-hour Snow Day competition.
After the two winners are crowned for best castle and best fort, the victors should be prepared to take cover from more than 6,000 expected invaders seeking to break the Guinness World Record for largest snowball fight.
"We get to support an organization we love," said Ian Lurie, founder and CEO of Portent, Inc. "Boys and Girls Clubs of King County does great stuff for Seattle-area youth. And we get to build a huge snow fort, then participate in the world's largest snowball fight. It's the perfect event."
Following the presentation of the world record, all attendees are invited to take part in a pub crawl at 12 bars in lower Queen Anne that will be offering discounted food and drinks.
The snow fort-building competition starts at 1 p.m., and the snowball fight is scheduled for 5 p.m. For more information on Snow Day, visit http://www.snow.co.
A $5,000 donation to Boys and Girls Club of King County is enough to help keep 10 at-risk teens in school, sponsor all costs for 10 children to belong to the club for one year or provide 20 children with a summer camp scholarship.
