According to the US Department of Education, over 3.4 million students will graduate in America in 2013, yet a staggering 37% of Generation Y remain unemployed or underemployed. Overall unemployment in America is considered high at 7.8%, but in other countries like Spain, it’s above 20%. Most affected by these events are the recent college graduates who can take up to 12 months before finding a job or finding the right job depending on the field. The solution to this global dilemma is to use the technology young professionals are familiar with and create a community, a network, that empowers them to help themselves.
With hundreds of niche social networks on the market today, the top 10, including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, controlling over 70% of the social media market share. Facebook serves students and young professionals by establishing a familial community for every stage of life. LinkedIn provides a database of contacts and a list of jobs that can take an experienced professional to the next level. No other social network provides a community for the recent graduate to learn, understand and develop in the workforce during the first stages of their professional careers.
Knowing that the social network market is becoming a crowded marketplace, a new social network has emerged, believing it has a fighting chance to compete on the global stage. This new network, YoPro Global, considers itself well positioned to serve the needs of a growing segment of the marketplace today; those severely affected by unemployment and underemployment with limited experience: recent graduates and young professionals.
YoPro Global is a social community that serves recent college graduates and young professionals facing the job market for the first time, and those looking to advance their careers with support from a community. YoPro Global separates itself from its competitors by providing peer-to-peer networking; a library of resources and discounted products and services every young professional needs in this early stage of life. YoPro’s competitive advantage lies in its ability to offer its solutions online and in person for every type of young people at an early stage in their professional life.
“When young people are in college they use Facebook. When they’ve been in the workforce a while and they have experience to put on a resume, the use LinkedIn. As of right now, there is no solution for the period between college and experience, and that’s where we come in. We are a social network that bridges the gap between your college life, and being a seasoned professional,” said Dr. C. Tyrone Richardson, CEO, YoPro Global. “We are also the first network to combine creative and traditional, corporate professionals, making it easier for non-traditional professionals to access the resources they need for success, truly embracing diversity as a principle among young professionals.”
YoPro’s approach to networking is to redefine the concept of mentorship by building a peer-to-peer networking community. In addition to its online social network, YoPro partners with young professional and networking organizations worldwide, and hosts events of its own in conjunction with EYP, as a means of giving young people a forum to make their online relationships real. Events offer all of the benefits of the online network including networking, information and access to products and services in person.
YoPro currently offers open early enrollment to young professionals across the world until March 2013. EYP will launch in-person networking events across the world in 2013 and YoPro will launch a beta version of the social network in March 2013. As part of it’s enrollment, YoPro is giving young professionals a chance to have input in the building of the network. Founding members can respond to surveys, give their opinions on screenshots and begin to share their stories as the network is being built.
Membership to YoPro Global is free and after March, will be by referral or application only. More information can be found at http://www.yoproglobal.org or by emailing admin(at)yoproglobal(dot)org.
