They have announced their use of lithium-ion in a battery and charger pack for pallet jacks. The lithium-ion technology provides a much more energy dense and efficient chemistry over the traditional lead acid batteries commonly found in these material handling applications. This causes the battery to require less energy to be returned to a full state of charge, leading to considerable amounts of energy savings and great reductions in the user’s carbon footprint. The new product is also virtually maintenance free because the electrolyte level does not need to be monitored. The lithium-ion charger and battery pack also allows vehicle performance to reduce very little as the battery is discharged.
The lithium-ion battery and charger pack will be displayed during MHI’s ProMat 2013 at the Applied Energy Solutions booth #972.
