The increase of the mainstreaming of meatless products caught the eye of Quorn Foods, prompting support and a response.

On January 9, Quorn Foods releases a statement reacting to a recent article on new food trends that experts expect to see in the coming year. The article is based on market research on consumer trends in the food industry.

According to the article from Food Business News, five new trends are expected in 2013: Food waste consciousness, wellness in the workplace, healthier mini-meals and snacking, meatless mainstreaming and going against the grain (in terms of gluten free products). This is according to the Values Institute at DGWB, a social science research group based in Santa Ana.

“The agency’s Balanced Healthy practice teamed up with Iconoculture in early 2011 to study the behavior of the 76% of Americans who actively take steps to maintain or improve their health. A total of 2,800 adults ages 18 and above participated in the national on-line study rating personal values and health actions,” the article stated.

In response to the article, Quorn Foods representative David Wilson responds to the expected mainstreaming of meatless products in 2013. “It’s a great thing that more Americans are gravitating towards a vegetarian diet,” he said. “While this research was more directed towards consumer trends, it also shows a trend toward healthier lifestyles, especially dieting.”

Wilson went on to say that there are plenty of easy vegetarian meals available when you switch to Quorn products. He said that using meat alternatives such Quorn products are a much healthier and a very tasty option for people looking to switch to a meatless diet.

Quorn Foods launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn foods use mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories. Quorn Foods offer a wide range of products including ready to serve meals, food for your barbecue, breaded meat substitutes, snacks and components to make your own meals from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorn meatless meals provides the taste of the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.
