College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) today announced its 2012 recipients. Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel earned the 2012 CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy, while Harvard quarterback Colton Chapple earned the 2012 CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy.

2012 CFPA National Defensive Performer of the Year Kyle Van Noy became the second BYU player to earn CFPA honors, following 2009 winner Dennis Pitta. West Virginia's Tavon Austin earned the 2012 CFPA All-Purpose Performer of the Year Trophy. Austin accepted the inaugural award to a standing ovation at the WVU Coliseum.

Michigan State's Le'Veon Bell celebrated the 2012 CFPA Elite Running Back Trophy with victory laps in the Breslin Center, causing a delay in the scheduled post-award press conference. "Le'Veon is very deserving of this honor....His ability to make people miss combined with his power to gain yards after contact make him a special player," said MSU head coach Mark Dantonio.

"I think it's the coolest trophy ever," said Florida's Kyle Christy after accepting the 2012 CFPA Punter Trophy. "It's a huge honor to share with Gator Nation; the fans were really loud."

A total of forty-five CFPA awards were earned in 2012. At the conclusion of the 2012-2013 CFPA presentation calendar, more than 100 CFPA winners will have continued their playing careers in the National Football League. Nineteen have already been first-round NFL Draft selections.
