Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Noremac, there lived a beautiful princess. She had attractive blue eyes that sparkled when she laughed. They were innocent, shy, and understanding, yet fiery and passionate at the same time. Her long light brown hair was the color of almonds that sparkled in the sunlight. She was such a happy child that her laughter was heard often throughout the kingdom and had such a beautiful sound that the fairies became jealous. Her parents are very kind and don’t want to offend their neighboring countries. But one day, a dragon has been spotted on the eastern part of the realm and the king and his men will have to go and look into the situation. What could be the reason behind the appearance of this dragon? Is the kingdom of Noremac in great danger?

Tankoon, an exhilarating fantasy novel written by Carol Cook is Book One of Caitlyn’s Dragon Series that tells the story of Princess Caitlyn who was sent to the land of Tankoon, a land in trouble. She was sent on a dangerous mission to help put everything back to normal in Tankoon, the land of stories. And was transported by Mallie into the land.Langdon, a great scientist has sent Mallie to Noremac to get her. All the things were not right in the country of Tankoon. All of the stories are mixed up. Trees grow apples on one side and bananas on the other. Rain falls in cubes instead of drops. The atmospheric continuum, which controls the weather, and the optimal controller, which controls all the stories, have become unstable. The Fernal Equalizer splits. If it continues to split, Tankoon and possibly the land of Luna will cease to exist. The only thing that can fix these controlling devices is a key that will fit into the Fernal Equalizer which will bring everything back to normal. This key is held by a dragon and only a really real princess like Caitlyn can control the dragon to obtain the key. However, the dragon will only give up the key if it wants to. If it doesn't, it will destroy whoever tries to obtain it.

This journey is also an important mission for Caitlyn to not only save the Tankoon world, but to save her own world too. Because there is a link between the two worlds by means of the stories. If the Land of Luna ceases to exist, there will also be consequences to Princess Caitlyn’s world. Does she have what it takes to overcome all of the dangers to reach the mountains of Astra Arum, triumph over those who tries to keep her from the dragon, and face the dragon to obtain the key?

Tankoon is one entertaining read children and adults alike will sure to love. This exciting story has a perfect concoction of adventure, danger, and magic that readers will follow as Princess Caitlyn and her friends embarks on a journey to save the country of Tankoon, in the land of Luna and the kingdom of Noremac and put everything back to normal.

Carol Cook has concentrated most of her life working with children. She has spent 40 years in education teaching third graders, K-12 at-risk students, teachers, and is presently working in a Missouri correctional center helping offenders obtain their GED. She is an avid reader, and loves fantasy. She began writing picture books for her grandchildren, and expanded to chapter books as they became older. She has 3 daughters, 3 sons (their husbands), and 6 grandchildren. She presently lives in north central Missouri with her loving husband and four dogs.
