World Tavern Poker, America's #1 Poker League, is changing their league structure and adding an additional $50,000 to the prize pool, to go along with the 40 seats to the World Series of Poker that are already given away each year.

World Tavern Poker, America’s #1 bar poker league announced today that it is increasing its National Championship prize pool by adding $50,000 in cash to go along with the 40 seats to WSOP events already given away every year.

“It’s very exciting for us,” says Mike Matsinger, founder of World Tavern Entertainment, “to watch the league grow from a few bars and a hundred players to over 350 locations across the country and more than 150,000 registered players.”

World Tavern Poker is a national bar poker league, similar to dart or pool leagues, where players compete in live Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments right in the bar. It is completely free to play with the top players earning points and seats into Championship events.
In 2013, the World Tavern Poker National Championship will be held during their newest event: The Great American Poker Challenge at Binion’s Gambling Hall in downtown Las Vegas where the $50,000 will be awarded.

“We are excited to be starting the Great American Poker Challenge at Binion’s,” added Matsinger. “There is no other casino in the world that has meant more to the poker world than Binion’s, and they are absolutely wonderful to work with.”

The Great American Poker Challenge is a 6 day event held in early November that will bring together more than 1,000 poker players for numerous cash tournaments, nightly parties and, of course, the World Tavern Poker National Championship.

“Traditional poker tournaments have become very stale and boring over the years, where it’s a room full of players with no music, no talking and no excitement. We think it’s time to bring the fun back to poker,” said Matsinger.

Along with the additional $50,000 in cash being given away, World Tavern Poker has also made changes to its season structure and is adding more ways to qualify for the Championship events. For more information, please visit http://www.WorldTavernPoker.com.
