On January 18, 2013, Spartan Race comments on a Spartan blog post by Margaret Schlachter regarding Schlachter’s top ten moments of her 2012 Spartan obstacle course races.

Schlachter mentions in the Spartan Blog post, “2012 was an incredible year, little did I know that in June when I started my 2012 season I would race nineteen official times and a few laps to help out, amass seven podium finishes and never out of the top 15.” The article mentions some of Schlachter’s top moments, such as finishing 3rd twice in one weekend, watching the Spartan Chicked movement grow, a book deal, friendships in the Spartan community, and turning “pro.”

The blog states that the Spartan Chicked movement has grown to over 9,000 members and Schlachter was there to watch it grow. “We started with a dozen women brought together with an idea by Carrie Adams and today it’s grown beyond what any could have imagined a year and a half ago,” stated Schlachter. The article also mentions that thanks to Spartan Race, Schlachter is expecting her own book to be out in Spring 2014.

According to the blog, “The Spartan Community is unlike any other in sport.” Schlachter states that the friendships and bonds created through Spartan are unique, in that her biggest competitors are also her best friends. Last but not least, Schlachter’s number one moment was turning “pro” for Spartan. According to the article Schlachter says, “In July, I quit my day job and simultaneously became the first female professional obstacle course racer. My life is my website, Dirt in Your Skirt, racing and training.”

Spartan Race founder, Joseph Desena, commends Margaret Schlachter on all of her achievements throughout her Spartan obstacle course races and being a prominent member of the Spartan family. “Margaret had accomplished so much in her Spartan Race career and she is and will continue to be an inspiration to us at Spartan, and all the racers out there,” said Desena.
