The Liberty Tax office located at 216 North Avenue in Grand Junction, Colorado outperformed over 95% of the nearly 4000 franchisee offices in the United States and Canada qualify for the Top Gun award, the company’s highest honor.
Many factors are used to determine qualifications for this elite group, including customer service, franchise rank, growth, profitability, customer retention, preparer compliance, training and internal corporate recommendations. After just one season preparing taxes, Liberty Tax franchise owners, Kimberly and Robert Evans were honored with the company’s most distinguished award, being named a Top Gun office for 2012. This award recognizes the Evans’ as outstanding franchisees and labels them as one of the “Best of the Best.”
The Evans’ received a trip to Virginia Beach, VA to accept their award. Four of their five children accompanied them on the trip and were included in the special recognition. Owner Kim says, “The kids play a big part in helping out around the office and giving passing traffic a friendly greeting as the iconic Statue of Liberty wavers.”
Kim manages the day to day operations of the office and shares, “We bought the office and moved our family to Grand Junction in the fall of 2011. The 2012 tax season was our first year running the office, but having spent two tax seasons working and being trained in one of Colorado's top Liberty Tax Offices in the Fort Collins area really helped prepare me to have a successful season.” In addition, Ms. Evans states, “I give much of the credit of our success to my wonderful team of tax preparers lead by Michelle Smith and Nancy Binger who are dedicated to our clients and embrace the Liberty Tax Mission Statement of Setting the Standard, Improving Each Day and Having Some Fun!
Receiving the award was pretty special but it was also an exciting adventure for the family to visit Virginia in particular because they have been studying the founding of America and the Revolutionary war. They are also members of the Northern Colorado Fife and Drum Corps and love participating in parades and colonial reenactments. "Being able to see some of the locations that played such a pivotal part of our countries history and visit in person the places we have been studying, was very inspiring." Among the places they visited were Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown.
Liberty Tax Service is listed as one of Forbes magazine’s “Top 20 Franchises to Start.” The start-up cost to open a Liberty Tax franchise ranges from $56,800 to $69,900. Franchisees attend initial training seminars at the Virginia Beach headquarters and receive year-round support and education.
