Following an article about the vision of the future for airports to accommodate the increase in passengers, Surf Patch offered their comments.

On January 14, 2013, travel company Surf Patch commented on a Los Angeles Times article by Hugo Martin, regarding how the prediction of more and more fliers in the years to come, is triggering visions of future airports to help the increase of passengers fly clear of delays.

According to the Los Angeles Times article, “As crowded as airports have been over the holiday season, a new forecast predicts even more travelers will be hopping on planes in coming years.” The article states that the International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicted that the number of fliers will increase to 3.6 billion by the year 2016.

According to the article, “IATA's leaders recently released a vision for the airport of the future that will move all these extra passengers fast and efficiently.” The article mentions that the trick behind moving these passengers quicker is that more passengers will be asked to give authorities their detailed background information in order to be pre-screened and moved through security quicker and more efficiently.

“The Transportation Security Administration already operates such a program, known as PreCheck, but only a fraction of the 1.8 million passengers who fly across the country each day use it,” stated the article.

Travel company, Surf Patch, agrees with the article that this new vision can be an affective way for passengers at higher volumes to fly clear of delays. “This is a really great idea, that with cooperation from passengers, can greatly improve the speed at which passengers clear security checkpoints,” says world traveler Takara Licausi.
