A new survey conducted by Paris Insiders Guide names the Catacombs as the most underrated Paris attraction & Champs-Elysées as the most overrated. Hotels, museums, restaurants and even Paris bridges were rated in the online poll.

The Louvre, Luxembourg Gardens and the Eiffel Tower continue to reign as best of Paris.

A new survey from Paris Insiders Guide, the leading Paris travel website, finds that the Catacombs and the Marmatton-Monet Museum were the most underrated Paris attractions in 2012. And, surprisingly, the famous Avenue des Champs-Elysées was the most overrated.

In an online poll Paris Insiders Guide's 1,000 subscribers were asked to answer ten entertaining questions to help choose the Best of Paris 2012. The poll was called Parisopoly and took readers on a virtual tour of Paris, asking them questions along the way. http://www.parisinsidersguide.com/best-of-paris-2012.html

"Some of the results were pretty clear, said Diane Shaskin, founder of Paris Insiders Guide. "Champs-Elysées was definitely the most overrated Paris attraction in 2012. But there were a surprising number of ties and near-ties, and a lot of places that definitely merit an honorary mention."

To the question, "You've drawn a Chance card giving you one week in Paris at the hotel of your choice. Which hotel do you choose?", the readers' top picks were the luxurious Hotel de Crillon, located on Place de la Concorde, and the Four Seasons Hotel George V in the chic 8th Arrondissement.

"Drawing a Poitrine Communauté (Community Chest card) you find you've won a $5000 Paris shopping spree. What one store do you spend it in?" resulted in a tie between two of the city's famous department stores, Bon Marché on the Left Bank and Galeries Lafayette on the Right Bank.

"Based on the opinions of our francophile followers, it seems that the luxuries of Paris contribute to make it a desirable destination," said Shaskin. "Hotel de Crillon and Bon Marché are two of my favorite places as well."

The survey also revealed:

Most Romantic Spot: Pont des Arts, the pedestrian bridge at the Louvre.

Favorite Museum: Musée d'Orsay, home of the Impressionist painters.

Top 3 Must-See Attractions: The Louvre Art Museum, Luxembourg Gardens and the Eiffel Tower.

Favorite Bridge to Cross: The gilded Pont Alexandre III.

Favorite French Food: Cheese!

Not-to-Miss Restaurants: Jules Verne, located on the Eiffel Tower, and Frenchie, in the 2nd Arrondissement featuring Chef Gregory Marchand.

"Some of the answers surprised us," says Shaskin, "but I have to agree with Paris Insiders Guide readers – Alain Ducasse's Jules Verne Restaurant continues to impress and Frenchie is a wonder of the culinary world! And, given readers' responses, the Louvre, Luxembourg Gardens and the Eiffel Tower will continue to reign as best of Paris among travelers."
