SCOTTSDALE, AZ (PRWEB) January 11, 2013
Lumension®, a global leader in endpoint management and security, today announced that its Endpoint Management and Security Suite (L.E.M.S.S.) has been recognized as a visionary in Gartner’s 2012 “Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms.” This is the third consecutive year that L.E.M.S.S. has been recognized by this prestigious security report. Gartner identifies the software’s web-based console and its ability to manage all client management tools with similar task-based orientation and consistent navigation as among the product’s strengths.
For the purposes of this report, Gartner identifies an endpoint protection platform as a solution that provides a collection of security utilities to protect both PCs and tablets. According to Gartner, vendors in this market compete on the quality of their protection capabilities, the depth and breadth of features and the ease of administration.
In order to be included in this year’s Magic Quadrant for Endpoint protection, vendor solutions had to meet the following criteria: the ability to detect and clean malware (for example, viruses, spyware, rootkits, trojans, worms), provide a personal firewall and HIPS for servers and PCs; include centralized management, configuration and reporting capabilities for all products evaluated in this research, and the ability to sufficiently support companies of at least 5,000 geographically dispersed endpoints; and provide global service and support organizations to support products.
“We are very pleased to be selected as a visionary in Gartner’s elite Endpoint Protection Platform Magic Quadrant for the third year in a row,” said Pat Clawson, CEO and chairman, Lumension. “We continuously strive to improve our L.E.M.S.S. platform, as evidenced by our recent acquisition of the CoreTrace Corporation assets that will serve to enhance our application control capabilities. We appreciate that Gartner recognizes our dedication to providing IT security professionals with the tools they need to effectively and efficiently secure their organization.”
L.E.M.S.S. unifies the functions of IT operations and security through a single console, server and agent architecture to seamlessly and more effectively address IT risk and systems management requirements across the enterprise. The management and security suite delivers best-in-class, modularly licensed capabilities across patch and vulnerability management, anti-virus, configuration management, power management, application control, device control, disk encryption and asset management.
In the 2013 State of the Endpoint report by Ponemon Institute and commissioned by Lumension, 67% of IT pros reported third party applications have the greatest risk potential in the coming year – an increase of 32% since 2010. With malware incidents on the rise – 58% of respondents reported more than 25 attempts each month – more are planning to invest in application control. Just 38% of respondents identified application control as a technology currently in use and 55% report plans to increase use of the technology in 2013.
