As the Houston Texans prepare for Sunday's clash with the New England Patriots, Fan Freedom, an advocacy organization protecting the rights of tickets holders across the country, issues the following warning to Houston Texans fans.
Pending victories for the Broncos and Texans, Houston will advance to play next weekend at Sports Authority Field. But Texans fans in Houston won't have the opportunity to purchase single game tickets online.
The Broncos organization, in conjunction with Ticketmaster, recently engaged in geo-restricted ticketing for this weekend's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. Tickets were only made available to online buyers with a billing address in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, South Dakota and Western Kansas.
"Texans fans beware! Restricted ticketing practices are stripping consumers of their right to attend premier games and support their teams,” said Elizabeth Owen, Fan Freedom Consumer Advocate. “Consumers should never face the prospect of not being able to purchase publicly available tickets simply because they live on the wrong side of an arbitrary state line.”
The Denver Broncos recently boasted that available tickets for the Baltimore Ravens game sold out in nine minutes. Only 5,000 tickets were made available to the general public during that online sale with a limit of four per household.
