“Read my story,” says De Groot. “You will be enlightened by the events that took place. It may help you understand or get over the cross you may still be carrying on your bleeding shoulders about that conflict called Nam.”

Believing it is time for Americans to know the combat veteran’s account of the events that took place during the Vietnam War, Art De Groot presents to readers his new book “Bu Ku Kilo” (published by AuthorHouse).

Housed within the 96 pages of “Bu Ku Kilo” is an assortment of tell-all reflections about De Groot’s experiences while on his tour of duty in Vietnam from1967 to 1968. Readers will be immersed in 55 war stories that bring each situation – good, bad or hellish – he was faced with to their eager hands. De Groot brings even more authenticity to his stories by using the army’s colorful language to help readers feel like they are actually there.

An excerpt from “Bu Ku Kilo”:

In Nam, I met a team of 6 men living in a bunker on the perimeter of a large US army military base…They were provided with new names, given 6 months of very special training, including mock missions and trained to be silent stalk killers, killing VC and NVA. They went on night missions carrying knives and nylon rip cords to kill the enemy. They would cut off an ear as a trophy and proudly displayed them on a brass ring about 2 feet in diameter hanging on the bunker wall.

“Read my story,” says De Groot. “You will be enlightened by the events that took place. It may help you understand or get over the cross you may still be carrying on your bleeding shoulders about that conflict called Nam.”
