Econsultancy’s Quarterly Digital Intelligence briefing: Digital Trends for 2013 report was published this week and reveals what marketers see as the most important trends for the next twelve months.
Forty-three per cent of those questioned identified mobile optimisation as the most exciting digital opportunity this year – making it the trend to watch for this year.
It was followed by targeting and personalisation and social media engagement which were both thirty-five per cent and then content marketing at thirty per cent.
Ben Austin, Managing Director at SEO Positive, has responded to the data with interest:
“This new data highlights what we can expect from digital marketing in 2013. It’s no surprise mobile optimisation is a huge factor considering that sales via mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones are higher than ever. To make the most of this trend it is important for businesses to have a site optimised for this kind of traffic.
“A lot can also be said for content marketing, which is another rising investment for businesses. It is one of the most effective ways of improving search engine rankings naturally, which is why we have a team of in-house copywriters who work on content such as press releases and blog posts to improve our client’s web position.”
