Boston bike lawyer and industry leader in reflective technology collaborate on highly visible bicycle

Most crashes happen because drivers aren’t able to see cyclists on the road, but Halo’s coating makes bikers nearly impossible to miss. This technology has the potential to revolutionize bike safety in the same way the LED did 20 years ago.

Reflective technology leader Halo Coatings (http://www.halocoatings.com) has joined up with Boston bike lawyer and bike safety blogger Josh Zisson to produce a highly visible retro-reflective bicycle. Coated in Halo’s patented reflective solution with 360 degrees of continuous delineation, the one-of-a-kind bicycle represents a safe, bright future for nighttime cycling.

Josh Zisson, lawyer and founder of popular bike law and bike safety blog Bike Safe Boston (http://www.bikesafeboston.com), finds that Halo Coatings' mission aligns with his own: to make biking safer and easier for everyone. “I want to make the bicycle a viable transportation option,” says Zisson, “and the key to that is safety. Most crashes happen because drivers aren’t able to see cyclists on the road, but Halo’s coating makes bikers nearly impossible to miss. This technology has the potential to revolutionize bike safety in the same way the LED did 20 years ago. It’s a game changer.”

Halo Coatings' director, Ryan Downey, agrees: “This bike changes the way drivers and cyclists interact. A Halo coated bike literally lets drivers see bikers in a new light, thanks to its 360 degrees of continuous delineation.” By finishing the bike’s frame with Halo's patented coating, they have managed to integrate an important safety measure with sleek, modern design. Downey believes that, together, he and Zisson have identified a major need: “Cyclists want this technology. It makes riding at night safer, and it gives their bike a distinctive look on the road. The behavior of drivers noticeably changes. Now it's just a matter of convincing bike manufacturers to listen to their customers and start adopting this technology."

Halo and Bike Safe Boston are giving away a hand-built wheel set with reflective Halo-coated rims. To enter to win, submit a name suggestion for Zisson’s bicycle to contest(at)bikesafeboston(dot)com before Tuesday, January 29th.

In his own words, Zisson is proud to represent Halo by riding “the safest bike on the road” around Boston, Massachusetts. For more information on Halo and Bike Safe Boston’s retro-reflective bicycle project, visit http://bikesafeboston.com/post/37594964359/safestbike.
