Omaha, Nebraska (PRWEB) January 23, 2013
(http://www.rfdtv.com) - RFD-TV’s new weekly series Small Town Big Deal welcomes “Entertainment Tonight” veteran, Jann Carl, as the new co-host of this rural-themed lifestyle show.
Carl, who was previously the correspondent and weekend anchor for “Entertainment Tonight,” is joining Rodney Miller, the series creator and current host. “I’m trading in the red carpets of Hollywood for the green pastures of rural America and I can’t wait to get started!,” stated Carl.
Miller’s new show Small Town Big Deal premiered in September 2012 on RFD-TV, rural America’s most important network. The series focuses a spotlight on the innovative, traditional, historical and interesting events happening in small town USA.
In addition to her extensive broadcast career, Carl brings to the show her expertise as a writer-producer and, handily, a mid-western farm background. Her grandparents were dairy farmers and her father was a sales and marketing executive at John Deere for 30- years. Her career has included positions as an Emmy award-winning reporter and news anchor for network TV. She was on-air with Entertainment Tonight for over a decade.
For 25 years, Carl has been involved with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, hosting the Jerry Lewis telethon, both locally and nationally. She has served on the association’s national board of directors and as a vice president. Recently, Carl was the co-executive producer of the 2012 series “SOLD!” for The History Channel.
“The first time I saw an episode of Small Town Big Deal, I knew this was a show for me!” says Jann. “What Rodney and his team have created is a true celebration of America in all of its varied glory. It showcases the heritage of our nation, the power of its dreamers, and pays tribute to the unsung heroes. The stories fill us with pride, give us hope, make us laugh, and remind us that national treasures are often found where we least expect them.”
"Jann Carl brings tremendous TV experience, is well known nationally, and is truly a down to earth rural American girl,” says Miller. A native of Illinois, Miller has served as the CEO of McCormick International and CEO of Montana Tractors. Miller, a true product of small town America himself, maintains active farming operations and is an avid collector of antique tractors.
Small Town Big Deal airs on Thursdays at 9:30pm Eastern on RFD-TV.
