PLS Donates $46,000 to the Avon Foundation for Women

PLS has made a 2012 contribution of more than $46,000 to the Avon Foundation for Women to fund the Foundation's fight against breast cancer. The amount was driven by the total number of transactions on the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade Visa® Prepaid Card, available at PLS Check Cashers locations.

When the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade Visa® Prepaid Card was introduced at PLS Check Cashers stores in the spring of 2012, both PLS and the Avon Foundation for Women had high expectations. But the instant success of the card—and the steadily increasing customer demand for it—has far surpassed even the most optimistic of projections.

“Our commitment to the Avon Foundation for Women was a minimum annual contribution of $25,000, based on a projected number of transactions,” noted Barb Wolf, VP Marketing & Products, PLS. “We surpassed that number within six months of the card’s introduction.

“PLS is very pleased to make a 2012 donation of $46,144.95 to the Avon Foundation to support its fight against breast cancer,” said Wolf.

Rallying customers to the crusade

PLS team members raise funds

During October, PLS team members at the company’s Chicago headquarters and at two satellite offices celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month with an employee raffle that raised an additional $1,981 for the Avon Foundation for Women.

“Our entire company has warmly embraced this cause,” noted Wolfberg. “Many of our team members have been touched by this disease through family and friends, and are eager to support efforts to find a cure.”
