"Many do not realize that 1 in 6 will go to bed hungry here in America... We are ecstatic that the strong consumer adoption of TangoTab has enabled us to make so many donations in the short time since our launch."

TangoTab today announced that it surpassed 140,000 meals donated to ten local hunger-relief charities in four states where the service is deployed. TangoTab donates revenues every time a consumer dines at a participating restaurant through its apps-- a meal for a meal.

"Many do not realize that 1 in 6 will go to bed hungry here in America,” TangoTab founder and CEO, Andre Angel explains. “We are ecstatic that the strong consumer adoption of TangoTab has enabled us to make so many donations in the short time since our launch. We want to thank our loyal customers for their patronage and the local charities supported for their hard work in the cause."

Since the recession, SNAP enrollment and lines at local food banks and pantries have risen substantially. The increase in food stamp enrollment in December 2012 reached an all-time record high, helping families that have fallen below the poverty line. The economic conditions have challenged hunger relief organizations to deliver and provide food to those who experience hunger. TangoTab’s donations help these shelters, food banks, soup kitchens and food pantries purchase and distribute food.

"Our client restaurants get more business, during their slow periods, and they feel great about a marketing solution that makes them leaders in the fight against hunger,” Angel said. “Consumers get great deals when they eat out and feel good about someone in need also getting a meal. Everyone wins.”

Now in its second year, TangoTab has donated more than 140,000 meals to hunger-relief organizations. All recipients are 501(c)3 charitable organizations that support hunger-relief in the regions where TangoTab has launched. 2012 recipients include:

Minnie's Food Pantry (Plano, TX): 64,250 meals
City Harvest of New York City (New York, NY): 22,200 meals
North Texas Food Bank (Dallas, TX): 10,799 meals
Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma (Oklahoma City, OK): 3,500 meals
Christian Community Action (Lewisville, TX): 1,750 meals
