Helium may be in short supply; but Wally’s Party Factory is not letting that deflate Valentine’s Day balloons. Wally’s, which is the nation’s largest privately-held chain of family-owned independent party supply and Halloween stores, is using air-filled balloons to navigate the global helium shortage this Valentine’s Day. Balloon Specialists at each of the stores’ 29 locations are getting creative, and finding innovative ways to use non-floating balloons to great effect in Valentine’s décor.

The most popular air-filled decorations are centerpieces. They are inexpensive, they last for weeks, and they are versatile—air-filled centerpieces can be displayed indoors or outdoors, and easily find the right size for any space.

Although air-filled balloons won’t float like their helium-filled friends, they can still be used for artful bouquets. To do so, simply use specialized rods that hold the balloons aloft and anchor the rods using a base, or place them in a decorative container much like a floral bouquet. They can easily be adjusted to the correct height and width.

Air-filled balloon arches and columns also make an affordable and grand statement for any event. To insure that the arches remain in place, simply use a PVC frame for support. The columns are, in many cases, self-supporting.

“Our balloon artists are experts on the latest air-filled balloon design techniques,” says Jonathan Erwin, vice president and general counsel of Wally’s Party Factory. “Many of our customers are not aware that there is a helium shortage; but they will be amazed to see what we can create with air-filled balloons.”

Wally’s offers an extensive selection of party supplies and balloons for all occasions, and themes including an extensive Valentine’s department with balloons, greeting cards, décor, party favors, and candy.
