Positive thinking, positive affirmations and visualization helped “Dancing with the Stars” co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet cope with her recent experience with thyroid cancer.

In a January 8, 2013 interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Burke-Charvet says that she is grateful that she is now cancer-free and is looking forward to the new season of “Dancing with the Stars” and a bright future with her family.

Burke-Charvet first revealed she had thyroid cancer in November 2012 in a YouTube Video entitled, “Cancer. Me?” In the video, the 41-year old host discusses the shock at her diagnosis but displays the positive thinking and positive affirmations that helped her cope, stating, “I’m just going to make positive out of this negative thing. I’m going to be a real good patient and do everything I need to do. I’m going to be fine.”

In the “Good Morning America” interview, “The Dancing with the Stars” co-host credits positive thinking as well as early detection with her positive outcome.

"It was shocking. I never thought I'd hear the word cancer in relation to myself,” shares Burke-Charvet. “The movie in my mind when I got my diagnosis was that I'm a mother, I've got four children and a family counting on me. Fortunately, I did a lot of research and I knew that the prognosis for thyroid cancer is really excellent. I knew I was going to be OK.”

Burke-Charvet says that she her positive affirmations helped her six-year old daughter cope with her diagnosis as well. Burke-Charvet promised to her oldest child that nothing would happen. Fortunately, she detected the cancer early on and was able to keep that promise.
