The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – held its Seventh Annual South Florida Luncheon on January 14, 2013 at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton, FL. The Luncheon was attended by a sold-out crowd of over 300 people and raised nearly $160,000 this year. Since 2007, LRF’s Florida Luncheon has raised more than one million dollars to support the Foundation’s mission to eradicate lymphoma and serve those touched by the disease.

“We are once again thrilled with the success of the annual South Florida Fashion Luncheon and we are proud to have surpassed the million-dollar raised milestone with this year’s event,” said Gladys Cook, one of the co-chairs for the event. “Thanks to the dedication and commitment of our supporters, partners and organizing committee, the Luncheon has become LRF’s signature fashion event raising significant funds to support lymphoma research and programs.”

Luncheon guests enjoyed a Fashion Show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue in Boca Raton, as well as an onsite Saks boutique. Saks generously donated 10 percent of the event sales to the Lymphoma Research Foundation. There were also high-end raffle prizes and an exciting live auction that featured accommodations at The Plaza Hotel and The Ritz-Carlton Hotels & Resorts.

"Saks Fifth Avenue was proud to partner with the Lymphoma Research Foundation for its Annual Florida Luncheon and to preview the store's Spring 2013 collections while raising funds and awareness for lymphoma,” said John Antonini, Vice President & General Manager, Saks Fifth Avenue - Boca Raton. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Foundation through this wonderful community event with the hope of making a significant contribution toward the discovery of a cure for this common type of blood cancer.”

The charity Luncheon was co-chaired by Judith Bronsteen, Gladys Cook, Elisabeth Dalfen, Ellen Liebman, Mitzi Oreman and Jane Yudell. Dr. Craig Moskowitz, Clinical Director of the Division on Hematologic Oncology; Attending Physician and Lymphoma and Adult BMT Services Member at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer; and Professor of Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, served as the event’s keynote speaker.
