The findings from this study should have a positive impact on the home improvement industry as a whole

The 2012 European Home Report has provided manufacturers, designers and tradesmen with a valuable insight into the latest trends from the home improvement industry.
The survey, which interviewed over 15,000 householders across eight countries, found that looking after their property is actually a priority for homeowners across the continent. Many of those questioned stated that they would forgo a holiday to fund a home improvement project, which experts believe reflects the ‘improve, not move’ mentality that many homeowners have adopted in recent years in the wake of rising property prices.
That said, increasing a property’s value was not the main reason why so many people are choosing to invest in home improvement projects. Surprisingly, more respondents stated that they want to make further changes to their home in order to ‘refresh’ their living space and make it a more comfortable place to live.
A representative from Green Apple Flooring believes that the findings from this study should have a positive impact on the home improvement industry as a whole.
“This study clearly captures the continent’s hugely positive attitude towards DIY, which is fantastic news for all home improvement retailers, especially those who may worry that consumers aren’t in a position to splash out on such projects during this difficult period of economic uncertainty,” he says. “If anything, it seems that the recent recession in Europe has encouraged homeowners to stay put and make the most of the property they already own. This is proven further by the fact that 52% of respondents in the survey said they were planning to stay in their current home for the next ten years or more.”
The company was also interested to learn that, according to the report, 35% of people buy home improvement products online. This is encouraging news for Green Apple, as the retailer has recently announced further plans to improve the presence of its Ecommerce website on the web.
