New Executive Leadership Announced at Schumacher Group

Former Opelousas General Health System President and CEO Gary Keller returns as Executive VP; Dallas native Keith Cantrell starts as Chief Revenue Officer

Schumacher Group (SG) announces that Gary Keller, former CEO and President of Opelousas General Health System, has returned to the emergency medicine management company to serve as Executive Vice President. Keith Cantrell of Dallas has been appointed as the company’s first-ever Chief Revenue Officer to oversee revenue operations for the Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine and Urgent Care divisions of SG.

Keller has as strong history with Schumacher Group, where he first served as Executive Vice President and Principal in 1995. It was under his leadership that the company grew from $3 million to $270 million in the first twelve years of operation and expanded from Louisiana into sixteen states. Post-retirement from SG in 2007, Keller continued to serve as a board member. He then accepted a CEO position at Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital, where he remained until his most recent position with Opelousas General Health System.

A native of Baton Rouge, LA, Keller began his career in hospital administration in 1975 at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, California. Keller earned a BA from Louisiana State University in 1968 where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate. In 1975 he completed his MA in Management and Supervision from Central Michigan University. He has previously held major leadership positions with Quorum Health Resources and Hospital Management Professionals, as well as conducted an active consulting practice.

In related news, Cantrell, a Texas native, brings more than 15 years of healthcare revenue cycle management experience on both the provider and payor side to his role as CRO. He joined SG in 2012 from EmCare and previously served at Pinnacle Anesthesia, Deloitte Consulting, KPMG and Arthur Andersen.
