For more than a decade SP have been enabling schools to develop eye-catching secondary school prospectus designs which showcase their unique educational identities.

The firm, which prides itself on innovation and partnership working with schools, has recently been encouraging establishments to integrate digital media into their marketing repertoire and are supporting research which shows that technologies in the classroom promote engagement and creativity.

In a research study recently conducted by the University of Hull, students who were given technological tools to complete schoolwork were more found to be more likely to engage with topics and show greater imagination and application of ideas to tasks set, both during the school day and after it.

A spokesperson for School Prospectus said,

“We work closely with schools when we’re researching information for a prospectus or website and that includes speaking to the students. We’ve found that they have a lot of creative ideas but don’t always have the confidence to express them. However, when we show them the digital tools that could be used to show their school’s strengths, they’re much more enthusiastic about having an input; they have a lot more knowledge about technological devices and their uses than they let on.”

The research conducted by the University of Hull found that it is not only school students, but teaching staff who benefit from using technologies in the classroom. Tablet PC’s had the greatest influence when students were allowed to take them home. Where pupils may have switched off at the end of a school day, the portable PC allowed learning to continue in the home, and what’s more, it encouraged parents to become actively involved in their child’s school tasks and the school itself.

SP believe that in terms of developing effective marketing material, the use of technologies including digital graphics, augmented reality and school prospectus photography all enhance engagement and this means that schools being reviewed for enrolment by parents and potential students are far more likely to captivate their audience.
