January 25, 2013 will mark the beginning of the 48th annual McCall Winter Carnival, a 10-day celebration of all things winter held January 25 through February 3, 2013 in McCall, Idaho. Events include Fireworks, a Mardi Gras Parade, snow sculptures, a Lobster Feed, the McCall Starz on Ice “Magic of Broadway,” the Barley Brothers Winter Ale Festival, an Ice Fishing Derby, a live Bull and Bronc Riding event, Wine Dinners featuring Cinder, Coiled, Sinclair Estate Vineyards and Dunham Cellars, live music, and much more.

January 25, 2013 will mark the beginning of the 48th annual McCall Winter Carnival. The Carnival is a 10-day celebration of all things winter and will be held January 25 through February 3, 2013 in McCall, Idaho. In addition to traditional Carnival events like Fireworks, the Mardi Gras Parade, and snow sculptures, 2013 will bring a number of exciting events to the festivities including a Lobster Feed, the McCall Starz on Ice “Magic of Broadway,” the Barley Brothers Winter Ale Festival, an Ice Fishing Derby, a live Bull and Bronc Riding event, Winemaker Dinners, and a live music on the Main Stage.

For those looking to head to McCall, Idaho for Winter Carnival, plan to hit these must-see events:

Mardi Gras Parade – A family favorite at Carnival. The Mardi Gras Parade will be held at noon on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Line the streets to watch fun floats, bands, and grab all the beads and candy you can!

Flash Point Snowbike Race – Motocross junkies rejoice! The Flash Point Snowbike Race is back at Carnival in 2013. Snowbiking is a relatively recent form of winter recreation where a ski and a lightweight, high-performance track are fitted to modern, off-road motorcycles. Don’t miss the “Legends” series with professional guest riders, a “Trophy” series will also be held for novice snowbike riders to compete, and kids will get an opportunity to race mini-snowmobiles in the “Children’s Snowcross” series. Flash Point will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the McCall Golf Course starting at 2:30pm.

Polar Plunge – Donate a dollar to dunk the plunger of your choice. All proceeds go toward youth programs in the McCall area. The Polar Plunge will be held at Alpine Village on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 3pm.

Idaho State Snow Sculpting Championships – Head down to Depot Park to witness the making of snow sculptures for the Idaho State Snow Sculpting Championships. Building begins on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 and awards are placed on Friday, February 1, 2013.

Chocolate and Spirits Tasting – Thursday, January 31st, join us at the McCall-Donnelly Education Foundation Chocolate and Spirits Tasting from 5pm - 8pm at the Shore Lodge. Savor a variety of light and dark chocolates and sip premium spirits - bourbons, vodkas, and more. Also included will be specialty port to complement your favorite rich, dark chocolates. All proceeds go toward funding incredible education programs for McCall-Donnelly students. Cost is $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

McCall Starz on Ice Extravaganza – Manchester Ice Centre presents “The Magic of Broadway” during the 2013 McCall Winter Carnival. Experience the excitement of former Olympic and World medalist figure skating right here in McCall! Starring Jozef "Jumpin' Joe" Sabovcik and featuring Erin Reed, Adagio Pair Natalia Zaitzeva & Jeremy Barrett, Elite Ensemble, and members of the McCall Figure Skating Club. General admission tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. On-ice table seating is also available. Performances are scheduled Friday, February 1, 2013 and Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 8pm.

Barley Brothers Winter Ale Festival – The Barley Brothers Winter Ale Festival is back for a second year at the 2013 McCall Winter Carnival. Featuring over 100 strong ales, porters, stouts and seasonal beers, entertainment, food and fun at Alpine Village on Saturday, February 2, 2013. Cost for the Winter Ale Festival is $25 per person in advance or $30 at the door.

Live Bull and Bronc Riding - Get your rodeo fix at the 2013 McCall Winter Carnival. A live bull riding exhibition will bring 35 professional bull riders to McCall to compete in a one-day event scheduled for Saturday, February 2nd. And to keep the thrills coming, we will be adding live Bronc riding this year. The event begins at 2pm and tickets are $10.

Closing Ceremony and Fireworks – This year the Winter Carnival will mark the beginning and end of Carnival with amazing fireworks displays. Closing Ceremony fireworks start at 7:00pm on Saturday, February 2, 2013. The snowmobile raffle winner will also be drawn at this time.
