Consorzio Tutela Vini Soave returns to New York (ThreeSixty) and Miami (Miami Beach Resort and Spa) on January 28th and 30th 2013 respectively, to present white wines that are made from volcanic soils. In fact, the Consortium is so engaged in this topic, that they dedicate an international forum on wines from volcanic territories, Vulcania. During Vinitaly International USA, industry professionals will be able to meet leading experts of geology and oenology explaining the idiosyncrasy of these wonderful wines.
Two master classes that will be held at the Vinitaly International tasting room from 5-6pm in New York and from 1:45-2:45 pm in Miami. The seminars will commence with a video-introduction on volcanic soils in Italy conducted by Professor Attilio Scienza, (University of Milan) a pioneer of the project Vulcania. The consortium’s oenologist, Giavanni Ponchia will than guide the horizontal tastings to emphasise importance of the volcanic and mineral soil.

Featured wines in New York are Cantina di Soave, Cantine Riondo, Cantina del Castello, Montetondo, Cantina di Gambellara, Cantina Colli Euganei, Sassotondo and Barone di Villagrande; with Cantina di Monteforte, Villa Mattielli, Suavia, Gini, Cantina di Gambellara, Cantina Colli Euganei, Sassotondo, Barone di Villagrande being present in Miami.
Each of the master classes will be enhanced by the Vinitaly Interactive iPad application to record the tasting preferences of each person by using a QR coded bracelet, which in return provides him or her with a personalized tasting book.
The Soave Consortium is dedicated to ensuring the highest production standards of wines produced in the DOC and DOCG zones of the area. The consortium is especially dedicated to the promotion of Soave wines in Italy and abroad. Among the first wines in Italy to receive the DOC designation Soave has been widely regarded as the white wine of Italy. The consortium strives to protect the quality of Soave wines through the development and administration of strict production guidelines. Currently, the consortium oversees and administrates production for 90% of Soave producers cultivating over 16,000 acres of vineyards and producing 45 million liters of Soave wine per year.
