High speed broadband roll out in Dorset is great news for local businesses not just for faster browsing, but real business improvement opportunities such as modern feature rich, low cost telephony.
Wareham, UK (PRWEB UK) 22 January 2013
Dorset-based broadband and business VOIP provider Buzz Connect have welcomed the roll out of high speed broadband in locations across the county, as Dorchester and Bournemouth become the latest towns to be connected to the network.
Much of Dorset is now benefitting from the high speed revolution, with exchanges now live in Blandford, Broadstone, Lychett Minster, Poole, Wimborne, Dorchester and Bournemouth. In all, 120,000 households and businesses will be able to benefit once the current planned cabs are completed.
However, many other Dorset residents will have to wait a bit longer, with the likes of Lyme Regis, Sherborne, Wareham and Weymouth not yet able to access fibre optic broadband.
BT has invested £2.5 billion in expanding its Infinity network, and aims to cover two thirds of the UK by early 2014. In Dorset the company has been working with local authorities to develop a programme which will deliver improved broadband speeds to rural areas – locations where the commercial case for high speed internet may not be as strong, but the need is just as great.
Fibre to the cabinet technology currently delivers speeds of 80 Mbs down and 20 Mbs up, and from later this year customers in areas served by enabled cabinet will be able to order fibre to the premise on demand, which will deliver 330 Mbs down and 30 Mbs up.
In these tough economic times, superfast broadband opens up new opportunities and gives a vital competitive advantage – for businesses this means being able to do faster transactions, and for home users they can find, access and stream or download content faster than ever before.
This is an exciting development for Buzz Connect, a company based in Wareham which utilises BT’s infrastructure to provide telephony and broadband solutions for businesses and people in rural areas.
Steve Smith of Buzz Connect comments ‘High speed broadband roll out in Dorset is great news for local businesses not just for faster browsing, but real business improvement opportunities such as modern feature rich, low cost telephony.’ Steve continued ‘Until it covers the whole county, Buzz can deploy bonded solutions or 3G technologies to provide connectivity in black spot areas.’
