USO Staff and BNA host “wall-breaking” ceremony for new USO Center at Nashville International Airport

The USO is America’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to our nation’s military. We look forward to extending that gesture to the thousands of service members and their families with the opening of USO Nashville in May.

The USO and Nashville International Airport (BNA) hosted a “wall-breaking” event today to celebrate the beginning of construction for a new USO Center at the airport.

The center, which is set to open in May 2013 during the 2013 USO World Leadership Conference in Nashville, will be the first USO in Tennessee and will replace BNA’s current military lounge located on the Ground Transportation Level.

The Center opening is part of BNA’s year long 75th anniversary celebrations. BNA is the home of the Tennessee Air National Guard Base at Berry Field, one of the largest Air National Guard facilities in the country.

”BNA salutes all members of the U.S. Armed Forces. We are excited to have a USO center at Nashville International Airport for U.S. Armed Forces members and their families,” said Rob Wigington, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority.

This USO will offer a host of programs and services for troops and military families. The new center will offer entertainment, computer services, a children’s play area and snacks. The new center was made possible by Nashville International Airport and many USO donors and volunteers.

“The USO is America’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to our nation’s military,” said Alan Reyes, Senior Vice President of Operations for the USO. “ We look forward to extending that gesture to the thousands of service members and their families with the opening of USO Nashville in May.”

BNA currently serves more than 14,000 military service men and women and their families and hopes to increase with the new USO Center.
