Following an article mentioning how debt collection scams are being heard about more often these days, Rapid Recovery Solution offers their comments.

On January 23, 2013, collection services Rapid Recovery Solution, commented on a article by Diane Lee, regarding the news that debt collection scams are on the rise.

The article states that, most people do not realize they are being scammed, especially after the holidays when everyone is in debt. According to Carri Grube Lybarker, South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs, "This time of year it's like clockwork that our office gets inundated with calls from consumers about debt collection scam calls.

About 10% of our calls in December were related to it, and we expected to be 15-20% in January just because you're after the holiday season." The article informs that the ways these scam agencies lure you in are by, impersonating a government agency, through phone calls and emails, and threatening people with being thrown in jail.

A victim of such scams, Robert Coronado, stated in the article that, “knowing your credit history is a powerful tool to protecting yourself against debt collector scams and many others trying to get your money.”

John Monderine, CEO of collection services, Rapid Recovery Solution, expressed his thoughts and feeling toward scam agencies. “Unfortunately these scam agencies are out there trying to collect on the innocent. Thankfully governmental programs are being created to monitor debt collection agencies and how they operate,” said Monderine. “However, the best way to protect yourself against these scams, is to know your rights when it comes to debt collection.”
