The idea is that kids can be superheroes if they are kind and bully-free, and that you don’t need superpowers to be a superhero.

As an elementary school teacher for 36 years, author and retired educator Ms. Franny Vergo taught her students a number of life lessons during her career. The theme for her final class was that of “superheroes,” where she focused on what a real superhero is – concluding that a real superhero is a person of good character. It is this important lesson that she wants to further share with young readers through her new book, “Jonathan Ray and His Superhero Pack: Be Bully-Free” (published by AuthorHouse).
In Ms. Vergo’s book, Jonathan Ray and his superhero pack of friends and pets help two of their classmates who are bullies to see that people should treat others the way they want to be treated. Ms. Vergo also teaches young readers how bullying is dangerous and hurtful to others and that bullies can also be superheroes through kindness.
“Superheroes are popular right now,” Ms. Vergo explains, noting the popularity of blockbusters films such as “The Dark Knight Rises” and “The Avengers.” She continues saying, “The idea is that kids can be superheroes if they are kind and bully-free, and that you don’t need superpowers to be a superhero.”
“Jonathan Ray and His Superhero Pack” is written in rhyme, further attracting children to the story.
