Linda Gould’s New Novel Visits Baseball’s Underworld

New novel tells entertaining story of sisterly love

Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) January 18, 2013

Combining the narrative style of chick lit and the fast-paced plotting of a crime mystery, Let’s Play Ball (published by iUniverse) tells the story of two ambitious sisters against the backdrops of immigration, global conflict and the nation’s pastime.

Readers meet Miranda, the stable sister with an important government job, nice home, and a prominent lawyer husband. Then there’s her fraternal twin sister, Jessica, a gorgeous sportswriter with high ambitions. When Jessica becomes engaged to Cuban-born baseball star Manny Chavez, the two sisters find themselves entangled in an unfamiliar world of fame and luxury. But when the forces of revenge and corporate greed catch up to Manny and his unsuspecting new fiancée, the level-headed Miranda is suddenly thrust into a world of crime and international politics.

An excerpt from Let’s Play Ball:

“It’s not like him to be this late without calling or texting me,” said Jessie. She waited a minute or two and then tried his cell phone number again, still without success. She dropped the phone on the table with a clatter.

“He never does this.” She began twirling one of her locks violently.

No one else seemed to know what to say. Our hunger had long since given way to annoyance. And as the minutes kept crawling by, that feeling turned to fear. Where in hell was Manny?

When it becomes clear that Manny has been abducted, the sisters uncover a shocking plan that involves several high profile baseball executives and politicians. Will the two sisters be able to save Manny or will they find themselves in the same perilous predicament?
