The FDA recently released two long awaited proposed rules under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) which will affect most food producers/manufacturers in North America. The proposed regulations span 1,286 pages and will impact companies that have never had to comply with governmental food safety regulations. While the regulations are not finalized and are open to public and industry comments until May of 2013, the final regulations will most likely look very similar to the proposed regulations.

Two components of the proposed rules include Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP). SGS will provide a virtual training class beginning February 1st with the follow up class February 8th that will guide food processors and manufacturers through the comprehensive steps that are required in implementing a HACCP system. Course participants will receive copies of presentation slides, a course manual, copies of forms/plans and a Certificate upon completing the course successfully. Additionally, this course is recognized by the International HACCP Alliance.

This two day training class can be attended via the Internet and only requires an Internet connection and current PC or OS based computers. The attendees will interact with the instructor and other participants via a live video feed during this innovative, new course. The virtual format allows attendees to lean the critical steps needed to implement HACCP/GMP for food companies from the comfort of their home or office. HACCP/GMP is the foundation for the proposed FSMA regulations. To register for the class or to learn more, visit
