Lincoln MKC Concept Debuts at NAIAS
Lincoln’s MKC concept, on display at the Detroit Auto Show this week and next, shows off a smaller, more refined version of Ford’s Lincoln crossover. Making elegance a key component of every aspect of the MKC’s look, there is no official word on whether the vehicle will end up with a hybrid powertrain. Ford Motor Co.’s Fusion and C-Max hybrids are the only comparable propulsion systems that could end up in the MKC, but the automaker is simply not offering any data on that topic for now. China’s GAC Attends Detroit Auto Show
Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) is making its Detroit Auto Show debut this year, showing off a trio of green vehicles as an opening volley in its bid to move among the world’s largest carmakers. Indeed, GAC is the only Chinese participant at NAIAS 2013, and they have brought along an impressive array of green cars, none of which are currently in the pipeline to be sold in the U.S. Even so, their all-electric SUV, called the GS5, has a 100-mile range, a 35-kWh lithium battery pack, and a 200 horsepower output. Also on hand are GAC’s hybrid Trumpchi and the futuristically named NEV E-Jet, a concept car similar to the Chevy Volt. For the complete story, see:
Acura Reveals Fresh Design for NSX
Honda Motor Co.’s Acura luxury division decided to use this year’s Detroit Motor Show to reveal its newest face for the NSX prototype. On the same floor in Cobo Hall last year, Acura showed off the first version of NSX, but this time around, the vehicle is both wider and longer, and apparently closer to maturity. Indeed, Acura’s marketing manager, Mike Accavitti, confirmed that the working prototype in Detroit this week is, “… a big step closer to the production model.” For the complete story, see:
