Toyota Prius c Voted ‘Greenest Car’ by ACEEE
The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has named the Toyota Prius c ‘Greenest Car of the Year.’ The award rates cars based upon environmental and fuel-efficiency parameters. For the first time since the rankings have been compiled, conventional cars do not appear anywhere on the list, instead being replaced by a variety of all-electric, conventional hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Rounding out the top five, spot number two was filled by Honda Fit EV, while the original Toyota Prius snagged the number three slot. Toyota’s new Prius plug-in hybrid was number four, and the Honda Civic Hybrid was number five. For the complete story, see:
Nissan Resonance Wins ‘Eyes on Design’ Award
Nissan's Resonance won the Eyes on Design award for Best Concept Vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this week. The company’s data sheets on the car refer to the interior as a “VIP lounge,” which it certainly appears to be, exuding celestial brightness and spatially expansive ambiance. Nissan’s senior VP and chief creative executive, Shiro Nakamura, headed up the team that produced the award-winning hybrid concept vehicle. A four-cylinder, 2.5-liter engine, coupled with an electric motor, makes for a fuel-efficient, futuristic vehicle that is one of the most groundbreaking concepts to arrive in Detroit this year. Tesla Model X Interior Shown at NAIAS
In an attempt to highlight the interior of its newest electric crossover, Tesla Motors has brought its Model X to the Detroit Auto Show so the media and the public can view the intricacies of the electric car’s updated styling. The three rows of seating on the display model are a mix of white and black upholstery. The middle row is black, while the front and rear rows are pure white. While the Model X will come with the choice of a 60 kWh or 85 kWh battery, as does its older sibling, the Model S, there is no word yet on whether all-wheel drive will be on the menu. Late 2013 is the designated commencement date for production, but deliveries of the Model X will not take place until the first half of 2014. For the complete story, see:
