“Working with law enforcement for 12 ½ years in the county attorney’s office and being married to an officer of 30-years, I can see the difficulties women in law enforcement face every day,” explains B.R. Vineyard. “They are required to forget their soft side and put on the strong, tough armor.” Utilizing her experience and addressing this pressing topic, Vineyard has penned her new book, “Badge and Blade” (published by AuthorHouse).
“Badge and Blade” tells the story of Maxie O’Bryan, a female sheriff and single mother who lost her husband and blames herself for his death. Maxie swore she would never get involved with another law enforcement officer. Between raising a child and fighting crime, she has trouble just being a woman.
When a serial killer begins committing his crimes in her jurisdiction, Sherriff O’Bryan’s determination doubles and she calls in a handsome Texas Ranger for assistance. The case gets serious when the killer stalks her own daughter. After Bill arrives, he finds himself wanting to do more than solve the case; he’s looking for a way to break through the wall around Maxie’s heart. After the death of her husband, Maxie swore she would never get involved with another law enforcement officer.
As she finds herself spending more time with the Texas Ranger, Maxie begins having trouble protecting her heart.
