Rescuing an animal facing hard times is one of the greatest things you can do – for yourself and for the animal.

When she couldn’t find a good story about bulldogs for her daughter, Lita Eitner-England decided to write one, “Bullmina the Courageous Bulldog” (published by AuthorHouse). The story, featuring illustrations by Leslie Hoops-Wallace, gives young readers an uplifting story about a special dog rescue.

When Bullmina, the Duke’s red brindle bulldog, is taken away from Chathamworthshire Estate, her life changes forever. Abandoned and forced to live by her instincts, Bullmina is rescued, only to be stolen again and forced to fight in the dogfight pits of 1830’s London. Bullmina’s final rescue becomes the triumph of dogs all over England because the Duke and Duchess make sure that no dog will ever have to fight in the dogfight pits again.

“Our pets, some call them our four-legged children, change our lives in so many ways,” says Eitner-England, a passionate advocate for the rescue of dogs. “Rescuing an animal facing hard times is one of the greatest things you can do – for yourself and for the animal.”

In addition to the heartwarming story of Bullmina, Eitner-England has also included real-life dog rescue stories at the end of “Bullmina the Courageous Bulldog.” She also provides readers with a brief section about caring for bulldogs and information for people who would like to rescue a dog.
