Stamford, CT (PRWEB) January 23, 2013
William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, Litchfield Hills Sotheby’s International Realty and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty recently participated in a donation campaign to support the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts of AmeriCares, a nonprofit humanitarian organization devoted to providing both immediate emergency response and long-term assistance programs for those in need all over the world. The company donated a total of approximately $28,000 to the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Fund.
In early December, the three partner firms announced the initiative to company agents and staff, inviting them to make donations through the end of the year at http://www.americares.org/williampitt and promising to match the donations. With employees and sales professionals donating close to $14,000, the company matched that dollar amount for the approximate $28,000 total.
According to AmeriCares, the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Fund has already made measurable differences in the lives of many of the victims of the storm. 98% of all donations made to the fund are used directly toward relief efforts, which include providing relief supplies, emergency medical assistance and bottled water to individuals in particularly hard-hit areas of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York City including Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
“We are tremendously proud of everyone at our company who gave so generously to this important cause,” said Paul E. Breunich, President and Chief Executive Officer of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, Litchfield Hills Sotheby’s International Realty and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty. “We have a history of involvement with charitable organizations in our local communities. It is wonderful to be part of an office environment in which people care so deeply about giving back, and for stepping in to provide meaningful support when a crisis like Hurricane Sandy arises.”
The Sotheby’s International Realty affiliate worked with AmeriCares in the recent past, participating in a donation program in September 2012 to support the organization in its work to deliver medical and humanitarian aid to residents of Guatemala living in poverty. That initiative, named Journey to Guatemala, offered selected representatives from the company the opportunity to actually fly to the country and witness first hand how their donations make a difference in the lives of impoverished Guatemalans.
