On January 23, 2013, Quorn Foods Inc. comments on a Stack article by Kait Fortunato regarding vegetarian recipes for the carnivorous athlete’s diet.

According to the Stack article, “A plant-based diet, when done correctly, can help decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease and aid athletes in fueling properly for performance.” The article states that meat-eaters can benefit from implementing vegetarian meals into their diets, because it can improve their health and performance.

The article listed quinoa salads, black bean and butternut squash enchiladas, veggie burgers and chickpea tacos as some of the vegetarian recipes that meat-loving athletes would most likely enjoy. According to the article, “Quinoa is not only a complete source of protein, it also provides an excellent carbohydrate base for lunchtime salads.”

When it comes to the veggie burgers, the article mentions that there are many options for ingredients when making them. The article mentions that you can, “Use a variety of beans, grains and veggies for a burger you can feel good about eating.” As for the chickpea tacos, they are a fun recipe with so much flavor that you won’t even realize the meat is missing.

Quorn Foods Inc. comments on the article with suggestions for vegetarian recipes of their own. “These are all very tasty and easy to make recipes for hungry meat-eating athletes,” says Quorn representative David Wilson. “Quorn also offers a variety of meat substitutes that replicate the taste and texture of real meat. They would fit wonderfully into the diet of a meat-loving athlete who is trying to eat more veggies.”

Quorn Foods launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn foods use mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories. Quorn Foods offer a wide range of products including ready to serve meals, food for your barbecue, breaded meat substitutes, snacks and components to make your own meals from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorn meatless meals provides the taste of the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.
