Author and speaker Dr. Jim Denison will be the featured guest for Wayland Baptist University’s Willson Lectures Series held March 5-6 on the Wayland Campus.
Dr. Denison founded The Denison Forum on Truth and Culture in 2009, what he calls a “nonsectarian ‘think tank’ designed to engage contemporary issues with biblical truth,” according to his website. Denison is a regular contributor to The Dallas Morning News and a guest columnist for The Christian Post. He has written seven books and has more than 70,000 subscribers around the world to his daily commentary.
Denison will lead the lecture series that will include at lectures at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, in room 211 of Wayland’s University Center. The lecture will be followed by a reception. On Wednesday, Denison will speak at Wayland’s weekly chapel service at 11 a.m. in Harral Auditorium. He will then host a question and answer forum at 1:30 p.m. in auditorium of the Nunn Business Building.
All events are open to the public.
Select books by Denison will be on sale at each venue, including Radical Islam: What You Need to Know, Wrestling with God and The Bible – You Can Believe It. There will also be forms available to sign up for Denison’s daily commentary at no charge.
Denison holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Religion as well as a Master of Divinity Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Dallas Baptist University. Prior to founding the Forum on Truth and Culture, Denison served as pastor at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas. He also pastored churches in Midland and Mansfield as well as Atlanta, GA.
The Willson Lectures were established in the 1950s by gifts from Floydada residents James M. and Mavis Willson. The Willsons intended for the annual lectureship to feature topics related to “Applied Christianity” and “Christian Home and Family Life” and they worked to secure outstanding speakers over the years.
