The Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention & Visitors Bureau(CVB) announces the arrival of its content-rich, photography-filled 2013 Official Visitors Guide. This year’s guide highlights the culinary expertise in the area. Three local restaurants have been selected as winners in the, “Best Dish in NC” competition for 2010, 2011, and 2012. Foodies are recognizing the great variety and quality of the dining experience in the Sandhills. In addition to the great menus, many of the chefs seek local food products to create their seasonal dishes. Farm-to-fork as they say.

Of course there is great information about golf in the area – history, the renovation of Pinehurst No. 2 (site of the U.S. Open Championships in 2014), quality of the courses, and the variety of courses available to the public. The properties mentioned in the guide also have hot links to their sites when the guide is accessed online at http://www.homeofgolf.com. This year’s guide provides hints about the 2014 guide that will prominently feature information and back stories about the first-ever back-to-back U.S. Open Championships to be held in June at the Pinehurst Resort.

Equally important to visitors and residents are many unique shopping venues throughout the villages and hamlets. From pottery, to jewelry, to all types of textile art, a unique memento of your trip can be found. Along the way, enjoy wine, olive oil, and cheese tasting opportunities and hand-crafted food items. Combine all those goodies with fresh breads and rolls from local bakeries to fashion a gourmet picnic. Take that picnic and enjoy one of several free parks and spend the rest of the day strolling or biking along a trail framed by longleaf pines. Sometimes, the simple things are the most memorable.

We are confident both visitors and residents will enjoy it immensely.”
