Being different is not always a bad thing, you can most likely turn it into something positive, if you try hard enough.
SWANNANOA, N.C. (PRWEB) January 23, 2013
According to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately one out of every 110 American children have an autism spectrum disorder. With this in mind, Kathy Tolar has penned a book for families living with an autistic child designed to give information to parents, caregivers and children alike.
“I Must Be from Another Planet” (published by AuthorHouse) tells the true story of a boy named Simon who thinks he may be from another planet because he acts and feels differently from his classmates. Tolar shares his experiences in a short story detailing his treatment and transformation from negative feelings to positive self-esteem after being diagnosed with autism.
“This book can touch on several emotions, from humor to sadness to relief,” Tolar explains. “It can be used as a tool for others who may not recognize these symptoms as being in the autism spectrum.”
Simon’s experiences are based on the real-life experiences of Tolar’s grandson, Chance, and by sharing his story, Tolar is hopeful that it will help other children understand why some of their peers might be different and should not be made to feel ashamed or inferior because they have autism. The book’s colorful illustrations and simple text will appeal to young readers.
