In her novel Forget Me Not (published by Trafford Publishing), author Christina D. Kennedy tells a heart wrenching and emotional story about a girl faced with a tough life which only seems to get more difficult at each turn.
Forget Me Not tells the story of Christina, a girl growing up in an abusive home. As the abuse from her father and his equally sociopathic girlfriend grows worse, and when Christina’s mother dies, Christina finds herself growing closer to an old family friend she knows as Uncle Frank.
Frank helps Christina plan her escape from her father’s home, but Christina soon starts second guessing herself once they are on their own. Once again, she prepares to escape, but this time things go from bad to worse. Christina returns, as a prisoner, to her father’s home, carrying Frank’s unborn child.
An excerpt from Forget Me Not:
In my panic I didn’t know where I would go. I couldn’t place this much of a burden on Crystal and her fifty-five year old boyfriend. I needed to forget. The only road ahead seemed to be the road back home. Father had talked about grandchildren before, so maybe he would be happy. This was all I had and all I had to go on and I had to think positively. I couldn’t think of anything else. I was afraid that this time Frank would kill me.
Her father and his girlfriend make plans for her. First they consider forcing her to have an abortion, but when they realize they can make some money, they decide to sell the baby, as well as Christina. Surprisingly, the man who buys Christina turns out to be a kind and caring person, supporting Christina as she deals with the scars of her past. She hopes to reconnect with her son someday, if her past doesn’t catch up to her first.
