Today the New Ways of Working Network (NewWOW) announced a new corporate sponsor: Optimaze, a service developed by Rapal, a Finnish company that specializes in work environments that are economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.

“We’re delighted to add Optimaze to our growing list of corporate sponsors,” said Jim Creighton, NewWOW’s Director. “Their support helps us grow the Network and foster understanding of new ways of working such as remote/distributed work. Rapal Oy, Optimaze’s parent company, has been a valuable member of NewWOW for several years and we welcome their assuming the role of a sponsor. Optimaze is making a major effort to bring a systematic approach to thinking about remote and virtual work and its impact on facility design.”

"I am happy to report that Optimaze has decided to sponsor the NewWOW network,” said Tuomas Kaarlehto, Rapal’s CEO and Partner. “We feel that NewWOW is one of the few groups that directly address emergent workforce and work environment needs. We also know that it is the only one that takes an applied research approach to issues at hand for the Real Estate Executive and his/her C-Suite.”

Optimaze’s mission is to provide sustainable work environment expertise and Kaarlehto believes that that Optimaze is a good fit with NewWOW because “we have spent the past 20 years with research in mind, have embedded this thinking into our products and services, and continue to strive for innovation.” Rapal and US-based Co3 Group have signed a letter of intent for Rapal to acquire Co3, and the acquisition is now in process. Co3 has developed a structured analytic process for implementing an effective distributed work program based on many years of experience at Sun Microsystems. This is being built into the Optimaze software so that physical design and work practices are part of an integrated approach to workplace environments.

Kaarlehto said that Optimaze plans to enter the U.S. market in 2013, and he “hopes to contribute to and learn from NewWOW going forward."
